Coming this September to both Sydney and Brisbane... The Future of Suburbia Conference, with world renowned 'uber geographer' Joel Kotkin, and Australia's leading economist and future strategist Brian Haratsis.
“We are living in a global suburban age. Modern suburban development has endured in our cultural imagination for almost a century. While statistics demonstrate that the amount of the world population in metropolitan areas is rapidly increasing, rarely is it understood that the bulk of this growth occurs in the suburbanized peripheries of cities.”
This is the MIT Center for Advanced Urbanism’s description of a multi-year project which explores the future of suburbia. MIT will in 2017 publish a global study ‘Infinite Suburbia’.
Inspired by MIT's 'Infinite Suburbia' project, MacroPlan have invited Joel Kotkin, one of the world’s top thought leaders on the future of the urban environment and a project partner with MIT's Center for Advanced Urbanism, to participate in this Australian event.
